「一個缺乏美學的民族」 當初,我聽這句話,不會認同,鹿港龍山寺御前清曲,古厝建築的步調,不都是需要美學嗎?可是面對峙立於路旁的違建,鏽漬斑斑的鐵窗和鐵皮屋,沒有留下一公分綠色的巷弄 ,我難以否認,只好歎息 我們離開街市,車子要經過一片小山 「你看,最好的地方,卻是給死人住的」 我記得,他那一次代我去看舊部落,那群石板屋、檳榔樹,進去舊部落,還要記得撒一點米酒獻給祖靈…他看著對面的山說,祖先真有智慧。被遷走一百年後,不知何時族人能回去? 才能找回失去的生活美學? 「一個缺乏美學的民族」 這次是我說的。台東海岸的傍晚,雨後,海上出彩虹,不可思議的紫青黃橘紅,還有微微淡色的霓,圍繞在雲中。我們轉了彎,前面的視線,被擋住了,一棟巨違建,未完功也已經開始生鏽,粗造醜陋不堪,誇張大又俗氣的「豪華」飯店,佔用著半個海灘,其周圍,還搭蓋鐵皮圍籬。我納悶,這種醜陋也未經過景觀或環境考慮的飯店,誰會想住?啊,缺乏美學的民族! 我的朋友,L在開車,他說,「正確,這種說法,」然後告訴我,東海岸的美麗,來自族人的智慧:重視生活、環境、肢體美學的AMIS族祖先,不會想亂開發這片地,只是後來,財團、政府進入,他們心裡僅向短暫的利益。「缺乏美學的民族」這個說法,恐怕即恰當。 不過,這樣不是很悲哀?他問我說,真的很可憐,沒有美學的民族,其實也沒有根,因為美學,會讓一個族群對其土地,環境,還有周圍的事物,發感情,而通過感情,會生根。有了根,也會想繼承,經營,保存這個美麗的地方。反過來,沒有根,只有短暫的利益在眼前。這種民族,就算他富強,其實很可憐,因為已失去了生命的價值。 我們走到海灘上,沒有甚麼話可說,只能聽海浪。朋友唱起古調,那充滿生命的旋律,何時會讓沈迷於消費注意的人民醒來?
